Rental homes are privately owned and maintained by the owners, but Holiday does a nice job trying their best to find the right fit for guests. Even if an owner fails to maintain something the rental agency steps up within their power to help. Read the terms of your lease, and be careful choosing your desired rental property and remember you get what you pay for. Less expensive properties aren't going to be the Ritz, and don't assume a nice home has all the amenities you want.
Holiday Vacation Rentals was professional and easy to work with. The rental home was everything we hoped it would be with plenty of room to spread out and the perfect family retreat. The home was clean and well kept. Harbor Springs is a fun place to visit and you are close to many more interesting areas, especially Lake Michigan and Mackinaw Island.
Rented Abby's Place in June 2015. Was not able to use half of the main house for the week after discovering the septic tank was backed up and water drain was plugged resulting in water coming up through the shower drain. Initial repairs were made but did not fix the problem. Not able to use washer, shower, toilet and therefore use or unable to invite guests. Attempted 3 times to contact Holiday asking to "do the right thing" and refund a portion of payment for loss of use of the property. No response to-date and do not recommend renting from this company. Very discouraged and disappointing customer service.
Love to make trips up to Harbor Springs
We rented a house in Petoskey from Holiday Vacation Rentals. Our experience was a disaster. The house had a significant odor throughout the house (musty, mildew, mold ?) that left me physically sick. Holiday Vacation Rentals attempted to resolve the issue by putting a new dehumidifier and two air purifiers in the house to no avail. We ultimately were promised a full refund that I was told will be refunded in the next day or two. We were left without accommodations in a very busy weekend in Petoskey (the Gallery Walk, weddings, soccer tournament to name a few). Holiday Rentals refused to pay the difference in what we had to spend on three hotel rooms versus a day in the rental house. They were dismissive and unprofessional in handling the situation. They argued every step of the way. Jared, who was a nice kid, but downplayed" the situation until he couldn't any longer. Kelsey tried her best to be sympathetic and professional and I did appreciate it. However, the man we ultimately dealt with (I don't know his name) accused my husband of harassment (because my husband said he was going to leave a bad review) He told me I insulted him, by calling the company liars (they claimed the smell just happened) This guy was a joke! This company ruined our vacation. We had to cut it short because I didn't have an additional $2,000 to pay for hotel rooms for three couples for the remaining four days .
